Ondawame melakukan perdamaian yang ekstensif[2] dan kampanye kesadaran publik di berbagai negara, mempromosikan solusi damai untuk konflik di Papua Barat,[3][4] dan membangun hubungan solidaritas di antara masyarakat tertindas, terjajah dan kaum pribumi.[5][6]
Dia adalah penerima Reconciliation Award 2001 yang dianugerahkan oleh kelompok Australians Against Execution, dan Penghargaan Presiden Suharto untuk Keunggulan Akademik 1972.[1]
