The 1961 season of the Mitropa Cupfootball club tournament was won by FC Bologna who defeated Slovan Nitra 5–2 on aggregate in the final. It was the club's third victory in the competition, having previously won it in 1932 and 1934.
Group stage
The 12 participating teams were split into three groups of four teams, who played each other once each. The matches took place between 18 June and 2 July, but the Group 3 game between Udinese and Kladno was replayed on 23 August.
