Berhanu Adelo
Berhanu Adelo (Amharic: ብርሃኑ አደሎ) is an Ethiopian politician, lawyer and legal consultant who has been the Chief of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) since 2025. He has served various positions in government cabinet and was an elected member of House of Peoples' Representatives following 2005 election. CareerBerhanu Adelo was born in Bonga, southwest Ethiopia. He was a lawyer and legal consultant for a decade. Behanu had served various government cabinets positions and portfolios such as Minister for Cabinet Affairs and a top adviser to Prime Minister Meles Zenawi for six years. In addition, he was elected member of House of Peoples' Representatives following the 2005 Ethiopian general election. Until January 2015, Berhanu was the Director General of the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office.[1] On 30 January 2025, Behanu was appointed by the parliament as the new Chief of Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC), replacing Daniel Bekele.[1][2] References
