Chief Warrant Officer of the Army
Since 2014, the Department of the Army has had a senior warrant officer role with various titles, including the Army Staff Senior Warrant Officer (ARSTAFF SWO) and the Senior Warrant Officer Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the United States Army (SWOA2CSA). On July 10, 2024, this role was officially named the Chief Warrant Officer of the Army, establishing it as the most senior warrant officer position in the U.S. Army and an essential member of the Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army. The Chief Warrant Officer of the Army’s responsibilities include advising principal officials on talent management, training, education, doctrine, policies, quality of life, and other matters that impact the Army, with a particular focus on warrant officers. Additionally, the CWA serves as the chair of the Army Warrant Officer Council (ARWOC) and collaborates with Army staff, agencies, and personnel to advance the Army’s strategic initiatives.
