China–Haiti relations
China–Haiti relations refers to the current and historical relations between the People's Republic of China and Haiti. Diplomatic relations between China and Haiti do not currently exist, with Haiti refuting the One China policy, holding diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan) instead. Recognition of TaiwanHaiti is one of thirteen sovereign states to recognise Taiwan as the legitimate government of China and has done so since 1956. Official diplomatic relations exist between Haiti and Taiwan, but not between Haiti and China.[1] Aid "competition"Haiti has been described as "very vulnerable to foreign economic and political pressure", with humanitarian aid from China and Taiwan "turned into a game of politics".[1] China has previously offered COVID-19 vaccines[2] and interest-free loans[3] in an attempt to persuade Haiti to shift their alliance towards the PRC-supported One China policy.[4] TradeChina has a trade office in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.[5] Haiti also has a trade office in Beijing, the capital of China.
