Devin Carter
Devin Carter (born March 24, 2002) is an American professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Providence Friars. Early life and high school careerCarter initially attended Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colorado. He transferred to Doral Academy Preparatory School in Doral, Florida, after his freshman year, when his family relocated to Florida following his father, Anthony Carter, being hired as a player development coach for the Miami Heat.[1] Carter's senior season was cut short due to a shoulder injury, and he opted to enroll at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, for a postgraduate year.[2] Carter was rated a three-star recruit and committed to playing college basketball for South Carolina during his senior year at Doral Academy.[3] College careerSouth CarolinaCarter began his college career at South Carolina. He played in 30 games during his freshman season and averaged nine points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Following the end of the season, Carter entered the NCAA transfer portal.[4] ProvidenceCarter transferred to Providence.[5] He averaged 13 points and 4.9 rebounds in his first season with the Friars.[6] In his second season, he won both Big East First Team and Big East Player of the Year.[7] Professional careerSacramento / Stockton Kings (2024–present)On June 26, 2024, Carter was selected with the thirteenth overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in the 2024 NBA draft[8] and on July 9, he signed with the Kings.[9] Throughout his rookie season, he was assigned several times to the Stockton Kings.[10] On January 3, 2025, Carter made his NBA debut against the Memphis Grizzlies and his father Anthony, an assistant coach for the Grizzlies.
