British Comedian
Helen Bauer (born 25 March 1991) is an English actor, comedian and writer known for her stand-up comedy in the UK and Berlin , Germany.[ 1] She was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2019.[ 2]
Early life
Bauer is the middle of three children born to Ann and Michael Bauer.[ 1] [ 3] [ 4] She grew up in Fleet, Hampshire [ 5] and is of German heritage.[ 6] Her mother ran a drama school from their home, which Helen attended.[ 3] [ 4] Her father worked in the water industry.[ 4] She attended Court Moor School in Fleet, Hampshire and Sixth Form College, Farnborough .[ 7]
Career
Bauer moved to Germany at 23 and began her stand-up career there.[ 1] She first came to prominence when she was nominated for the BBC New Comedy Award in 2018.[ 8] [ 9]
In 2018, she shared a bill at the Pleasance Dome during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival .[ 10] She debuted her first hour-long show, "Little Miss Baby Angel Face ", at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019 and was nominated for the Best Newcomer award.[ 2] [ 9] [ 11] Her subsequent shows have included "Madam Good Tit " in 2022[ 12] and "Grand Supreme Darling Princess " in 2023.[ 13] [ 14]
Bauer has appeared on Extraordinary ,[ 15] Am I Being Unreasonable? ,[ 16] Live at the Apollo ,[ 17] the Emily Atack show [ 18] , 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown , [ 19] and Hypothetical .[ 20] [ 21] She created and starred in a sitcom pilot, "Small Doses ", for BBC Three .[ 22] She will star in Sam Campbell 's upcoming Channel 4 comedy tv series "Make that Movie ".[ 23]
Bauer co-hosted the "Daddy Look at Me " podcast with Rosie Jones .[ 10] She currently co-hosts the "Trusty Hogs " podcast with fellow comedian Catherine Bohart .[ 1] [ 24]
