The Monthly Film Bulletin wrote: "An indifferently written and directed Danziger production along the usual lines, none too convincingly played, and marking the British debut, as Richard Wyler, of Hollywood actor Richard Stapley."[3]
In British Sound Films: The Studio Years 1928–1959David Quinlan rated the film as "mediocre", writing: "Uninteresting thriller."[4]
TV Guide wrote, "blase attempt to create an exciting crime drama quickly loses much impact in the opening scenes...The addition of a sex angle did absolutely nothing to heighten interest."[5]
