Nina da Hora
Nina da Hora (born 1995) is an Afro-Brazilian activist and computer scientist known for her research on algorithmic racism and her efforts to increase women's participation in technological development.[1][2] Hora is a co-worker at the Center for Technology and Society at Fundação Getúlio Vargas or (FGV).[3] Early life and educationNina da Hora was born in Rio de Janeiro. Hora earned her bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.[4][5] CareerHora's research focuses on the ethics of algorithms and artificial intelligence. Hora is a member of TikTok Brazil Security Council Advisory Board.[3] She is also a member of "Tire Meu Rosto Da Sua Mira" (Get My Face Out Of Your Sight), an anti-racist movement against the deployment of facial recognition software for public safety.[4] RecognitionIn 2021, Hora appeared in Forbes Brazil "Under 30" list for her work on algorithmic racism and algorithmic justice.[1] In 2024, Hora joined the Ford Global Fellowship at the Ford Foundation, a program that supports global leaders who are advancing innovative solutions to end inequality.[6] References
