Sydney Olympic Park bus routes
The Sydney Olympic Park bus routes operate from various places in Sydney to Sydney Olympic Park when significant cultural or sporting events are held at the Sydney Olympic Park precinct. HistoryDuring its project to host the 2000 Summer Olympics, Sydney promised that transportation around the city during the Games would be done exclusively by public transport. For this to happen, the city only built a new transport hub, but did not purchase any new modes. As only minimal car parking was provided, with it intended that most people went to the competition venues using the public transport. This also envolved the creation of a railway line. However, this project still left parts of the city without access to sustainable and affordable forms of public transport. To address this, a series of new bus routes were devised. These services commenced in 1998 in conjunction with the Sydney Royal Easter Show moving from Moore Park to the Olympic venue.[1] With a few adjustments, these remain today. The routes operate at events such as the Royal Easter Show, State of Origin and NRL Grand Final and other major events as decreed by the State Government.[2] RoutesAs of July 2023, the major event bus routes are: [3] [4]
