Tamil Nadu Cement Corporation Limited (TANCEM) is a state-government undertaking of Government of Tamil Nadu located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.[1] It produces cement, AC sheets, hollow blocks, concrete and other building materials. CriticismThe Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), the supreme audit institution of India, reprimanded the state-owned Tamil Nadu Cement Corporation (TANCEM) for unlawfully operating eight mines without acquiring environmental clearance.[7] It reportedly accused that out of the nine mines leased from the state government, TANCEM had only obtained clearance for one mine in the Ariyalur district.[8][9] References
