This is what the template looks like on Chrome. There is a large amount of wasted space which means the template is much longer than it should be. I'm not sure of the cause of this, but unless it is an easy fix I would like to remove the images until a fix can be found. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:39, 18 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Arms
Given the Cambridge Coat of Arms is no longer in the template (it looks like the file was deleted, so its removal was presumably unavoidable) should the Oxford one be removed as well? It seems odd to have one without the other? Dunarc (talk) 22:26, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No it's a navigational template which helps users find articles. There is no 2021 Boat Race article at this time because literally nothing is known about a 2021 Boat Race, let alone if there will even actually be one. The 2021 article was prematurely and inaccurately created, then subsequently deleted. Once sufficient reliable information can be sourced about a 2021 race, then the the article and template can be created/updated. Why not add 2022 and 2023 while we're here if we think a null 2021 link is worthwhile?? The Rambling Man (Stay indoors, stay safe!!!!) 10:54, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No - it's a navbox, so should really only have blue and redlinks. There's an argument for having the 1915 race listed, that potentially an article covering why there was no race at this time, but not one for having a WP:TOOSOON article there. The test is, if it were created, would it get deleted? With no sourcing, and no information, next year's event would be deleted. No - it's too soon to write a reliably sourced article so no value in red-linking 2021 (or later) in the template at this time. 2020 has an article to be linked. Whizz40 (talk) 11:18, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The current usage of grey text is not good from an MOS:ACCESS perspective, nor is it helpful when at least one of the races which didn't take place (2020) actually has an article — the grey text makes it appear as if it is unlinked. As a starter suggestion:
Remove the wartime races which weren't even prepared for (1915 to 1919, 1941 and 1942).
I suppose the other way to do it is to have a row specifically for events that didn't take place, or were unofficial. The grey events don't really help much. The above seems like a suitable way to handle it. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski(talk • contribs)13:26, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Whichever is fine with me. Just a thought - should this be Template:The Boat Race? I realise there is more than one, but I don't think it's ever been referred to as "The Boat Races" (maybe referring to several as Boat Races between X & Y). A similar template for multiple world cups is at Template:FIFA World Cup for example. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski(talk • contribs)10:54, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Is it worth adding links to the 2015-present Women's boat race; even if they link to the same place as the (Men's) Boat Race? AT a quick glance, one might think that the event has been stopped.
