In fact, when dealing with experienced editors, the general use of templates is frowned upon. You will get a much better reaction by adding a personal note and discussing any disagreements. Excellent writing. I thought you might like to have these templates. I keep them on my user page and use them to format the references. This way whenever Wikipedia decides to, say, put the publication name in bold or move the date in between the title and author, it can change all one million by just changing the one template. It also formats the url so it is invisible and connects it to the title. As you can see I have added a few to your excellent articles.

Please stop cutting alt text content on this page. The page passed good article scrutinization with the text intact. It was considered appropriate and it does not help the reader to be told it is "Scarlett Johannson" without a description of how the image appears. The text should be sufficient to allow the visually impaired reader to visualize the image. It is not helpful to say "This is Scarlett Johannson and Michael Caine". Need to stress that G+ post on the official page of Linus Torvalds does involves claims about event directly related to the subject. The subject in discussion is "Aaron Swartz prosecution and suicide". Aaron Swartz is a computer programmer. It's generally not accepted, and student newspapers are cited all over Wikipedia. Like local resource (vs. national), college newspapers often have the opportunity to pursue stories at a different pace, and also often have special access to sources not generally avaialble. Reliable sources are published materials with a reliable publication process or written by authors who are regarded as authoritative in relation to the subject. While some student newspapers may meet the first qualification, the one question [1] does not as the article's capitalization ("...residents of the bay state..."), factual ("Markey, a Democrat who has represented Massachusetts' 5th district since 1976..."), and grammatical ("Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA) is currently the only person to have officially declared candidacy for the 2013 Special Elections") errors make it's reliability questionable. --Hirolovesswords (talk) 05:58, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

It's one thing to question the reliability of a particular source, but I don't think your answer address the general issue. In the future, please don't tar the entire category (student newspapers) if your gripe is with one publication. It's certainly not the case that newspaper reporters in non-student media publications are "regarded as authoritative in relation to the subject," as general rule. Some may be, but most are not. I think you will find that questions of style (capitalization), fact, and grammar occur with similar frequency in non-student publications. Anyhow, my request is for you to be specific rather than general. I haven't personally evaluated this particular source and I cannot speak to its reliability, but I worry. Hi, Thanks for your article about Samuel Hawkes - and catching the is-->was edit for the house. I checked the Special:WhatLinksHere/Samuel_Hawkes and found that there wasn't one article that linked to Samuel Hawkes... and then used find link tool to see if there were instances of his name in other articles, but found two other Samuel Hawkes.

If you categorize a person article by town or city like you did here[2], you must remove the county category. 'People from Essex County, Massachusetts' in that particular case. Here is a recent talk page discussion[3]. Consensus is that a person doesn't get placed in a parent category and one of its subcategories though if a person lets say had lived in multiple subcategories of the same 'People from Foo County' categories', the person can be categorized by each of the subcategories but not in its parent category....William 12:38, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Also 'Town Managers of Saugus, Massachusetts' is a subcategory of 'People from Saugus, Massachusetts' not the category 'Saugus, Massachusetts' itself. It is well established precedent that 'Mayor of Foo' are subcategories of 'People from Foo'. Hey Hirolovesswords. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

First you delete material because you misunderstand or failed to read wp:youtube. Then, you change your reason, and refer to Wikipedia:NOTDIARY, which you either didn't read or misunderstood. Please only use it for situations of the ilk it refers to -- such as "Not every match played, goal scored or hand shaken is significant enough to be included in the biography of a person." Hi. I am Herbert Tuckerman's son and a newbie when it comes to editing articles on Wikipedia. As far as I know, my father was a member of the Porcellian Club at Harvard and NOT the Hasty Pudding. A corner of our living room was dedicated to his collection of porcine knickknacks collected from various sources as tribute to his membership. Now, my father was a somewhat secretive man and I can imagine an unlikely scenario wherein, having been humiliated by being refused membership in the PC, he simply lived the somehow face-saving lie that he had been a member. As I say, this seems to me EXTREMELY unlikely, but would be the only imaginable possibility that I am misinformed on this matter. Should you have evidence to the contrary, I and the rest of my family would be very interested in seeing it!

I've been working on the Toronto Argonauts page and after some discussion on talk would like to move off the management list (or at least the coaches) and rely on the relevant subpage. The problem is I can't source anything on the coaches prior to 1907. The team list only goes back that far and there does not seem to be anything else available. Actually, I feel the edits do qualify. The article states: "College athletes and coaches are notable if they have been the subject of non-trivial media coverage beyond merely a repeating of their statistics," Mr. McCormick is a notable businessman. He has received significant media coverage as result of being a businessman. You can find this coverage within the sources in the article. Mr. McCormick was frequently covered in the Boston Business Journal. Furthermore, as I write, his company, invested in Constant Contact and Boston Duck Tours. In my opinion, Mr. McCormick's unique attributes of being a lacrosse star, business mogul and gubernatorial candidate qualify him as notable. Please consider. FYI puffery is "Words ...used without attribution to promote the subject of an article, while neither imparting nor plainly summarizing verifiable information." Considering the information about Feilden's father and uncle and the information about Feilden's "greatest achievement" were cited to/verifiable in reliable newspaper sources (and greatly abbreviated versions of the actual texts) it seems counter-productive to remove them. As you've probably seen, I've added back and reworded the statement, or rather I've used the exact words of the article.
