I was going through and checking the use of Girl Scouts of America because *most* of the time the author meant Girl Scouts of the United States of America. On Terrace Park Girl Scout Cabin the source application for being a Landmark used Girl Scouts of America, so the article reflects the source. However, from what I can find on the internet, "Girl Scouts of America" was basically gone by the 1930s... Any ideas?Naraht (talk) 15:43, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Been a while since I made that check, so thanks (and I checked Cub Scouts of America once again). I think you are correct here; GSA is a very common mistake for the GSUSA; I have seen it used on a number of Scouting discussion lists. --  Gadget850 ^talk 16:00, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

I've found the National Historic Landmark info not always accurate they for instance list the Lou Henry Hoover House as Lou Henry and Herbert Hoover House even though nobody else does (the application perhaps wanted to emphasize the connection to the president). Perhaps put a note in the reference indicating the source used GSA but that that is a common mistake for GSUSA. --Erp (talk) 03:40, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

I'm concerned about three practices of infoboxes to these articles (done by users such as @Evrik). See Scouting in California as an example. I'll note that the infoboxes are used for each council (Girl or Boy Scouts) and also two regional scouting infoboxes for "Scouting in California" and "Girl Scouting in California". First should there be more than one infobox in an article? The [[Help::infobox]] page indicates not given that the location is suppose to be in the top right corner of the article though the council subsections of these categories better fit the use of infoboxes. I'm inclined to go with infoboxes for each individual council. Second, if more than one infobox is permitted, I don't think there should be two regional scouting infoboxes (Girl Scouting is Scouting); I'm not even sure what purpose a regional infobox for Scouting serves in the first place. Third, under no circumstance should a map image be in a scouting infobox. Such images almost always are too small to allow the reader to make out the necessary detail that makes a map useful in the first place. Thoughts? --Erp (talk) 22:28, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

More than one infobox is permitted. FWIW, I'm the only one who has been going through the Scouting in X State articles and cleaning them up. So far, I have finished 26 of the 50 states. I agree that all of the individual councils should have an infobox. I think the infobox at the top of the page sets the them for the article, and whenever possible I use photos of both the BSA and GSUSA. So there seems to be a disagreement on the header and the maps. I use the maps in the section header because they encompass all the councils in that section. I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say regional page. --evrik ^(talk) 02:43, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

By regional I mean the infoboxes not for an individual council but rather the whole state. Since all they contain usually is the words "Scouting in State X" and a few pictures/maps but no facts, I don't think they are useful. Put the pictures and maps where appropriate within the article and at a size that makes them readable without the user having to click on them. --Erp (talk) 05:15, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

The infoboxes frame the photos, otherwise the images just seems to sit in the top corner with little explanation. I like having the maps smallish. If people want to look at them they can go to the link. --evrik ^(talk) 23:18, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

I thought that the idea of the infoboxes was for use with organisations rather than regional divisions. I've just, however, removed some that were being used for individual instances of biannual jamborees. I think that we need to maybe come up with some sort of agreement as to what they are for, otherwise we could just have pages and pages of the things appearing. From Australia, I have never heard of it. I thought searched from here rather the US might give more results, but you are right, all references are to wikipedia. A new copy-paste detection bot is now in general use on English Wikipedia. Come check it out at the EranBot reporting page. This bot utilizes the Turnitin software (ithenticate), unlike User:CorenSearchBot that relies on a web search API from Yahoo. It checks individual edits rather than just new articles. Please take 15 seconds to visit the EranBot reporting page and check a few of the flagged concerns. Comments welcome regarding potential improvements. I'm quite sure that this saying was not formulated by Baden-Powell. It exists in many languages and has a wide choice of differing wordings. Normally, it is suggested that the saying originated in some northern (cold/rainy/snowy) country, like Scotland, Norway or the Netherlands. --jergen (talk) 13:38, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
