Yogesh PatelYogeshbhai Narayandas Patel (born 23 July 1946)[1] is an Indian politician from Gujarat. He is a three time member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from the Manjalpur Assembly constituency since 2012.[2] He represents the Bharatiya Janata Party.[3][4] Early life and educationPatel is from Manjalpur, Vadodara district, Gujarat. He is the son of Narayanbhai. He studied SSC at Sharda Mandir High School and passed the examinations in 1964. Later in 1966, he did a one year diploma course in civil and mechanical engineering at MS University, Vadodara.[1] CareerPatel won from Manjalpur Assembly constituency representing the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2022 Gujarat Legislative Assembly election. He polled 120,133 votes and defeated his nearest rival, Tashveen Singh of the Indian National Congress, by a margin of 100,754 votes.[5] He first became an MLA winning the 2012 Gujarat Legislative Assembly election and retained the seat for the BJP in the 2017 election. He won for a third consecutive time winning the 2022 Assembly election.[6] On 15 December 2022, he became pro-tem speaker.[7] A pro-tem speaker conducts the proceedings of the house till a speaker is elected.
