Chemin Vanier is a road located in Gatineau, Québec. It links from the Ottawa River to the Gatineau Park (chemin de la Montagne). It crosses various districts, such as the Mitigomijokan District and Deschênes District (it serves as border between districts) and crosses major roads such as Boulevard des Allumettières and Chemin d'Aylmer. It is planned to be expanded.^[1]

Projects

There is a tramway project in the works that is planned to go on chemin Vanier^[2] to launch by 2028.^[3]

In this region, many inhabitants are against more urban development. For example, in 2024, many inhabitants protested^[4] the construction of a 15-story inhabitation.^[5] This is because of a problem described as "Gatineau's fight between densification and mobility." ^[6]

Enlargement of the Road

The road wasn't expanded in over a century, and congestion is a problem in the region. The then-mayor France Bélisle commented on this issue, saying that a solution couldn't wait.^[7] A funding of 2,8M$ was secured to enlarge chemin Vanier.^[8]
