Muhammed Alkhatib (born 17 August 1959), known by his stage name Emy Kat, is a researcher, visual artist, and photographer. He specializes in contemporary art and fine photography.

Career

Previously, he has worked in Los Angeles, New York, London and Dubai. He currently lives in Paris, where his studio is located.

He became qualified as a photographer from obtaining his graduate degree in photography from the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, U.S. in 1997.

Kat began his career in fashion photography, portraits, and commercial advertising.

Ten years after graduating photography school, in 2009, he specialized in Contemporary Art and Fine-art photography.

In 2013, he created a new technique in Contemporary Art called a "digital collage". He calls it "Mental Spaces." A collage is a photo taken or space used with many other images taken in many different angles to create one big image. [1][2]

Kat participated in a number of local and international shows in 2014. He participated in Jeddah Arts 21,39 inaugural exhibition Moallaqat (2014),[3] Art Dubai (2014)[4][5] and Paris Photo (2014).[6]

Other specialties

Although major of Kat's is digital imaging.

In 2008, he used a top-of-the-line LEAF digital camera back system. However, for most of his fine art, he still uses photographic film with a large format view camera and medium format camera.

His iconography studies on the subject "Femme" describing her superiority (Nude studies on Platinum) is a permanent collection at BNF Bibliothèque nationale de France. The collection is under Reference number Ep-4001-Boîte pet. fol.(Collection Publiques).[9]
