Isaak Phillips
Isaak Phillips (born September 28, 2001) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract as a prospect to the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Personal lifePhillips was born in Barrie. He is of Afro-Vincentian and Finnish descent: his paternal grandparents were from St. Vincent, and his mother is Finnish.[1] Playing careerPhillips played major junior hockey for the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 5th round, 141st overall, during the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.[2] On March 31, 2021, the Blackhawks signed him to a three-year, entry-level contract.[3] Phillips made his NHL debut on October 29, 2021, going pointless in a 6-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.[4] He appeared in four total games for the Blackhawks during the 2021-22 season while primarily playing for their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs. On January 14, 2023, Phillips scored his first career NHL goal during an 8-5 loss to the Seattle Kraken.[5] On January 15, 2025, Phillips was traded to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Dmitry Kuzmin.[6] International playPhillips represented Jamaica at the 2018 Team Elite Hockey Prospect Showcase, winning the tournament.
