Josiah Sunday Olawoyin
Chief Josiah Sunday Olawoyin was born on 5 February 1925 and died on 10 October 2000.[1] He served as the first Asiwaju of Offa from 25 April, 1982 until his death.[2] He was a businessman and politician. He advocated for the merging of the Ilorin and Kabba provinces, and the creation of a state with its headquarters at Ilorin. He was seconded by the late AGF Abdul-Razaq, the father of Executive Governor of Kwara State Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Kwara State was created on 27 May 1967 as West Central State during military regime. He was the Governorship Candidate of Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) in 1979.[3] According to the source, the family plan to commemorate his 100th posthumous birthday. The family is set to launch a foundation in his honour on 5 February 2025. The event is expected to draw many important dignitaries.[4][5] References
