Scissor macrocephalus

Scissor macrocephalus is a species of characin endemic to Suriname. It is the only member of its genus.[2]

Taxonomy and etymology

The generic name is based on the Latin for "one who cleaves", and the specific epithet is Greek for "large head". The species was described from a single specimen, and the description is doubtful. The binomial is incertae sedis[3] within Characidae and the species may actually properly belong to Oligosarcus.[4]
