Yahya Saree
Yahya Qasim Saree' (Arabic: يحيى قاسم سريع; born 1970) is a Yemeni military officer who is the spokesperson for the SPC-led Yemeni Armed Forces, a renegade faction of Yemen's armed forces closely related with the Houthi movement.[3][better source needed] He frequently appears in military statements made by the Yemeni Armed Forces most notably on the attacks targeting Israel-linked vessels passing through the Red Sea and Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. His statements are broadcast primarily via Al-Masirah TV, his Telegram channel and his Twitter account, which was established on January 15, 2021.[4][better source needed] Early lifeYahya Sare'e was born in the year 1970 in Saada governorate, adjacent to the southern Saudi border.[2] He earned a bachelor's and master's degree in political science and has also taken combat, security, administrative and specialised courses in military science.[2] CareerIn 2017, he was appointed head of the Psychological Warfare Division in Moral Guidance of the Yemeni Armed Forces.[3] Also in the same year, he was promoted to the rank of Colonel. In mid-2018, he was appointed the Director of the Moral Guidance Department of the Yemeni Armed Forces, and was subsequently promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. On 17 October 2018, he was appointed as the official spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, succeeding Brigadier General Sharaf Luqman.[5] On 3 May 2024, Yahya Sare'e announced in a televised speech that 'we will target any ships heading to Israeli ports in the Mediterranean Sea in any area we are able to reach.'[6] See alsoReferences
